Beginner Grammar I
Upon completion, students in this class will be able to ask and answer simple questions in the present tense using sentences comprised of a single clause. They will demonstrate a precise understanding of the proper use of the simple present and present continuous tenses. Additionally, students will be able to correctly spell commonly used nouns in their plural forms.
Achievement Goals for Beginner Grammar I:
- Formulate and respond to simple present tense questions.
- Understand and apply the rules of the present continuous tense.
- Correctly use and spell singular and plural forms of common nouns.
Beginner Grammar II
Students completing this class will be able to use both regular and irregular singular and plural nouns and pronouns in the nominative and objective cases, combined with adjectives. They will distinguish between countable and uncountable nouns and use articles and participles appropriately. They can express past events using the correct adverbs and verb tenses for regular and irregular verbs. Lastly, students will be able to use “will” to discuss future events.

Achievement Goals for Beginner Grammar III:
- Appropriately use modal verbs to express ability, permission, obligation, and advice.

Achievement of ILR Level 1 in Grammar:
Students who successfully achieve the learning outcomes at each level are considered to have acquired ILR Level 1 (Elementary Proficiency) in grammar, primarily demonstrated in reading and writing skills, and to some extent in listening and speaking.
